Phelios Updates Helix 6:00 AM | Alvaro Radigales | Comment on this story
Independent developer Phelios, responsible for several simple and addictive OSX and Windows shareware games such as Swap and Doulber Gold, recently revamped their arcade title Helix with a pretty massive update. The new version features a total overhaul to the control system, a new weapon system made of 5 different power-ups, new sound effects, compatibility with most USB pads and several other gameplay changes. In Helix, the player controls a heavily-armed helicopter hovering above an alien landscape, performing daring rescue missions to save a bunch of dolls from the clutches of evil monsters from outer space. A free version of Helix is available for download at Phelios' official web site, as is the extended pay version, which comes in the form of a licensed download like the other games from the company. An interesting change made to this latest version is a vastly reduced download size, all the way down from 22 mb to 14 mb, which should encourage gamers to try this title out.
