Macsoft today announced that the long-awaited Macintosh version of Bungie's Halo: Combat Evolved will be shipping on December 3rd, in time for Christmas. The game promises many enhancements over the critically acclaimed and best-selling Xbox game, including online multiplayer support, new maps, vehicles and weapons. Here's more from the official press release: Halo is optimized for the Macintosh with the precision offered by the mouse-and-keyboard and full support for high-end hardware including graphic resolutions up to 1600 by 1200 and beyond. Halo's online multiplayer feature will enable players to battle it out with fellow gamers worldwide in a variety of individual and team-based games. Halo for Macintosh was developed by Westlake Interactive in conjunction with Gearbox Software and Bungie Studios. "I haven’t had this much fun on a computer since I visited Madrigal with a few dwarves and a handful of Berserks." according to Destineer president (and former Bungie executive vice president) Peter Tamte. "Nothing compares to playing Halo with the precision of a mouse and keyboard on a Mac." Halo: Combat Evolved is a sci-fi action epic that shatters the confines of traditional game environments. Players wage a hi-tech guerilla war on foot, in vehicles, in the air and beneath the surface of an alien ring orbiting in space. The game was created developer Bungie Studios and Windows PC version of Halo was developed by Gearbox Software.The IMG Store is currently taking pre-orders for this highly-anticipated game.
