Medal Of Honor Sequel Info
9:20 AM | Andy Largent | Comment on this story

Yesterday Electronic Arts unveiled new information about the future of their popular series of World War II shooter, Medal of Honor. The games began on the console systems, moved to the PC and Mac with Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and extended this with the Spearhead expansion pack (due out for the Mac this spring from Aspyr).

Now it seems EA is looking to move the series into the Pacific Theater, according to a report on the press event posted at HomeLan Fed. While the first part of the article only deals with the console versions, they also reveal a second expansion pack for Allied Assault will be coming to the PC this summer, which will take place in Italy and Africa. Here's a bit from the article:

While details are still a bit sketchy we do know that an external developer will be handling the chores for this expansion (we can't reveal which developer just yet) and that it will focus on the African and Italian campaigns during WWII. Powers said that the game will be a longer experience in single player than the recently released expansion Spearhead and that they will also add another new (as yet unrevealed) multiplayer gameplay mode to the expansion.
Along with the expansion, a full sequel is also in the works called Pacific Assault for release early next year.

According to the report, Pacific Assault will again use the Quake III engine, making it another likely candidate for a Mac port. Here's more information:

Like Allied Assault, Pacific Assault will not be a port of a console Medal of Honor title (although they will use a couple of the same locations and battles from Pacific Sun such as the Pearl Harbor attack) and will have its own separate storyline and characters. Powers said that the game will once again use the Quake III engine as its base, but added that Pacific Assault will have a large number of graphical improvements such as dynamic lighting, higher detailed character models and an all new terrain engine. Powers also said that the game will have at least one new multiplayer gameplay mode.
Check out the article for a full report, along with some early screenshots from the new Medal of Honor games. Also stay tuned to IMG for more word on the possibility of seeing these titles on the Mac.
