The iEntertainment Network has released an open beta of Armored Assault for Mac OS X. Armored Assault puts you in the driver's seat of a powerful World War II tank where you can enjoy immersive offline missions or battle it out with hundreds of players from around the world in one of several online arenas.
In a post to IMG's Forum, iEN Game Designer Matt Davis details the open beta:
We're opening up the Armored Assault Arena for FREE this coming weekend ( Feb. 28 - Mar. 2 ). During this time all accounts, including FREE accounts will be able to fight in the arena. We were unable to find any system requirements for Armored Assault. The only thing that is mentioned is that it requries Mac OS X (sorry, no mentions of which versions of Mac OS X will work). Links to the sign-up page, information on Armored Assault, as well as the 115 MB download is available below.
We will be running special events and contests for free t-shirts, free online time and test qualifications for our proposed $5000 cash Tank Squadron tournament.
The arena will be set to FREE during this time so everyone can play. If you don't have a current account with iEN you can either create a FREE account here or try our new two week free offer.
If you are already a WarBirds or Armored Assault subscriber, or have created a free account in the past you are already able to play in this event. There is no need to create an additional account.
If you do try out the Armored Assault beta, be sure to stop back in the IMG Forum to post your impressions of the game.
