Dragon's Lair 3D Preview and Screenshots 12:28 PM | Galen Wiley | Comment on this story
Xengamers has posted a preview of the upcoming game, Dragon's Lair 3D, the much anticipated "sequel" to the original Dragon's Lair arcade game. This preview, based off of the latest beta version, explains just how well the game is coming together. While much work is still needed before the release date this October, the author had this to say about the game's animation: On the one hand, the character animation in place is uniformly fantastic. Our bumbling hero Dirk is perfectly rendered, from the shiny tip of his helmet to his comically oversized clown feet. Every movement of his, from his bumbling run to the wild zest with which he swings his sword, is perfectly suited to the character. Although enemies weren't terribly prevalent in the beta, the ones we did see were impressive, each conveying a distinctive personality with its animation and sound effects, from the wildly hopping winged blue devils to lumbering suits of possessed armor. Even simple objects like bookshelves convey some personality in the way they forcefully “hop” into the Dirk's path to block off certain passageways or slam themselves to the ground in an attempt to crush him. For more information regarding the game's progress, be sure to read the full preview. (Please note that this preview was based off the PlayStaton 2 version.)In related news GameSpyDaily has received 4 new, high resolution screenshots of the game in action, from the Xbox edition of the game. A link to these screenshots has been provided at the bottom of the article. Dragon's Lair 3D comes to the PlayStation 2, Nintendo Gamecube, Xbox, and PC/Mac this fall.
