Q&A with Blizzard's Bill Roper

The German gaming site 4gamerz has a quick question and answer interview with Blizzard's Bill Roper. The interview starts off by asking questions about their future release schedule, sadly with no new information about World of Warcraft except that its "release is too far away to provide a realistic launch window." However, Roper does go into depth about Battle.net, cheaters, and the next patch to Diablo II.
Blizzard is still a fairly small company, so we have to carefully prioritize and juggle our resources at times. Currently, we have all of our testing resources focused on the release of Warcraft III. As soon as that game launches, we should be able to free up members of our Quality Assurance department to start tests on the next Diablo II patch. Finally, the question which everyone wants to know: what is next for Blizzard?
As with any of our games, the decision on what to do next comes from what the teams have a passion for creating, so whether or not there will be a sequel to Diablo II depends on those people and the interests of the company – weighed, of course, with the interests and desires of our gaming community. As has been recently announced, Warcraft III will be a simultaneous Mac/PC release on July 3rd. Whatever Blizzard does decide to do next, their track record speaks for itself.
