CivFanatics.com, a fansite devoted to the extremely popular Sid Meier's Civilization series of games has published an edited 32-page log of a chat with the people at Firaxis regarding the upcoming Civilization III expansion, Play The World. Not unlike the chat log posted a few weeks ago by Apolyton, there are some rather searching questions posted, and while the Firaxis crew continues to be coy about giving away answers to the big questions, such as what new civilizations will be added, the answers they do give regarding things like gameplay changes will certainly be of interest to any Civilization fan. Here is an excerpt from the interview:
[22:13] Mike or Jeff, can you describe the changes to the military advisor assess military strength and ways this might change behavior. For those of you that can't be bothered searching through the massive chat log, there is a summary provided which presents all the little snippets of info in an easy to comprehend dot-point format. There has been no announcement yet of a mac version of the expansion, however it would appear likely that MacSoft would pick it up given the success of the original. Stay tuned for further announcements as this much anticipated expansion reaches completion.

[22:13] cracker: The advisor now uses a calculation similar to the one used by the AI to assess military strength. Units without attack/defense capabilities will not be counted.
[22:14] Cracker: Non-combat units no longer play a role in assessed mil strength. The AI never counted them and we'll make that consistent throughout
