Fans of Bungie's old-school first-person shooter Marathon Infinity know that the development of third-party scenarios continues at a steady pace. Yesterday, a group by the name of The Evil Petting Zoo released the first chapter to a new Marathon Infinity mod titled The Classified Nineteen. The first chapter, subtitled "Echoes of the Past," is touted as a story-rich scenario that features 18 single-player levels along with an additional ten multiplayer maps.
Here's a clip from the press release:
Experience for yourself the amazing Tilthe machine, a history research device that allows one to observe past events as they transpire in the first person perspective of the people who lived through it! You can: wrestle naked oiled Peruvian amazons as Francisco Pizarro in the 16th century, squish history's very first picnic ant with your own virtual thumb, or suddenly look up to briefly see the tiny reflection of a startled Usama bin Laden in the glass lens of a laser guided bomb. At least that is what I would do, but Sean Phelps (the project leader) had other ideas and a detailed SciFi story set in the Marathon universe to go with it. Live the adventures of Kahn Zhang in the terrible events leading up to the destruction of Polaris in 2887 AD. Participate in future history! For players without a net connection who still want to try out a little multiplayer, The Classified Nineteen also includes what it terms BOB bots, which boast "abnormal physics abilities, making them formidable opponents."
More information on this title can be found at marathon.bungie.org, which has posted the press release. Those who wish to download the installer, which is Carbonized, can find links at the mod's web page. Clean copies of the Marathon Infinity application, Shapes, Sounds, and Images files are required in order to successfully install and run The Classified Nineteen.
