BG2 Patch in Final Testing

Fans of Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, the sequel from MacPlay to the hit role-playing game Baldur's Gate, have long reported serious problems with BG2 in Mac OS X 10.1.x: slow gameplay, frequent crashes, and generally poor performance with certain graphics settings.
Contraband Entertainment's Chris Jacobson, who was responsible for bringing Baldur's Gate II to the Mac while at MumboJumbo, has been aware of these issues and recently completed work on a patch to address them. In a long IMG Forum thread on BG2's OS X performance, Jacobson yesterday added a very encouraging bit of news:
I finished the patch, with my own set of testers (about 28 in all), and it fixed the outstanding issues. It is now in the hands of MacPlay who is doing its own quality assurance testing. This is excellent news for Baldur's Gate II fans who should soon be able to play the game in OS X with the same speed and stability as in Mac OS 9.
