Custer Looks at Luxo

After a quick trip to Macworld Expo San Francisco, IMG's Brad Custer is back in the swing of things with a new desktop for you this week. While many great things were unveiled at the show, it seems nothing was an inspiration like Apple's own 2002 iMac. The similarities to Pixar's first short animated film have already been mentioned, and Custer has done an excellent job of merging both in his latest work.
Here's a clip from Custer's Desktops with more of an explanation:
After the keynote, a fellow IMG staffer asked me what my expo desktop would be and I naturally had to do one featuring the new iMac. I'm sure most of you have seen the footage of the computer moving the flat screen around as if it were alive. Well, this reminded me of a certain short film by Pixar titled "Luxo Jr." If you're not familiar with the film, it features two desk lamps: a papa lamp and a junior lamp. As this is becoming a new tradition I decided to use another film to inspire my expo desktop creation. So, this week's desktop is named after the short film that inspired it. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did making it. Also, please note there are no "junior" versions of the iMac being offered. This was just artistic licensing. ;DHead over to Custer's Desktops to grab the latest desktop now.
