New Warcraft III Shots 6:00 AM | Michael Eilers | Comment on this story
GameSpy has dug up four screen shots of Blizzard's upcoming RTS title Warcraft III in action, revealing the development progress of this sequel; two of them appear to be new. As we recently learned at Macworld New York, Blizzard plans to bring this title to the Mac OS simultaneously with the PC version, continuing their strong commitment to the Mac platform.
While four measly screen shots isn't anything to throw a party about, these do show the mature game interface and viewing angle, so radically different from the original shots that were released. This game has been slowly shifting from a RPG/RTS hybrid towards a more traditional RTS title, focused on small party combat rather than amassing huge armies. The solo and multiplayer aspects of this game will feature RPG-like features, however, including non-player characters that interact and move the storyline along, and Heroes that can be upgraded in weapons and abilities.
Check out the shots and visit the Blizzard web site for more information on this title. This game is due "when it is done" as usual, but Blizzard seems to be thinking middle of 2001.
