GameSpy recently visited the Canadian company Bioware and lived to write a story about it. Bioware is currently working on the amazing 3D RPG Neverwinter Nights for Mac and PC, as well as trying to finish up Baldur's Gate II. Now that the Mac version of the original Baldur's Gate is finished, we might hope that the sequel might also make its way to the Mac, though nothing official has been announced. Here's a clip from the article, with more about Neverwinter Nights:
Some new details about the game are that the game will feature approximately two hundred spells, primarily from the 3rd edition rules. Around sixty skeletal models can be used to create 250 monsters from the 3rd edition Monster Manual. Each monster can be given special powers like chickens that cast spells or explode. Characters will be able to triple class according to the new rules and the number of party members is theoretically unlimited. As you can tell, Neverwinter Nights is looking to accurately emulate pen-and-paper AD&D, so expect to be able to play DM for a group of your friends (or strangers) over the net. Neverwinter Nights is set to be released sometime next year, though nothing firm is known at this point; it is tentatively expected for Summer 2001.
