"Game of Death" Coming to Mac OS 12:15 PM | Michael Eilers | Comment on this story
A report on the Adrenaline Vault details a very unusual game in development by Burns Entertainment Software called Game of Death. While the game is currently being developed for PC, according to Avault's report there are plans for Xbox, PS2 and Mac versions.
While the game is still in the concept phase of development, the theme of the game (as you might guess from the title) is best described as an "action/horror" title using the Vulpine 3D engine. As the player, you travel through a surreal and spooky 3D dreamland, hunting down the most notorious serial killers of the 20th century. Here's an excerpt from the report:
In Game of Death, a young man is taken to a hospital in critical condition following a car accident and, while in a coma, enters a dream world. There, he must defeat his opponents in order to be revived. In a unique twist on traditional arms, each killer must be overcome using his own means of slaughter, meaning a strangler must be choked to death, and an axe murderer must meet his demise at the business end of a blade. The player will locate and piece together these weapons while battling various minions within a level, and will have to ascertain each serial killer’s special weakness in order to emerge victorious. This is certainly an original, albeit disturbing, concept. The game currently has no publisher, but the dev team is targeting December 2002 for a release.
