PC.IGNis participating in Blizzard's beta testing for the upcoming Diablo II expansion pack, Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. The preview they have produced as a result is filled with details about the new features and items of this pack. They mention changes to the UI, the 800x600 screen resolution, bigger inventory "stash", etc. Here is a sample:
Of course the biggest additions to the game is the continued story and the new levels to go along with it as well as the new playable classes of character that will definitely be of interest to gamers. We got a bit of a chance to play around with the two classes as well as convert a bigger character to the expansion and send him into the northlands. When we reached the northlands, after a brief battle with Diablo to get us there, we found a cold land stuck in the middle of an unholy struggle. Then we went out and tried to quell that struggle single handedly. But low and behold, there were a bunch of Barbarians out there throwing down with the monsters. You can't talk to these guys, but they don't take crap from anyone and will take on whatever comes their way. It was pretty cool to see this in action as this is something you've never really had the chance to experience in the Diablo games. The preview also features dozens of screen shots and four movies of the game in action -- unfortunately just camcorder shots of a monitor from several feet away. Blizzard will be bringing Lord of Destruction to Mac OS 9 late this summer and probably to OS X this Fall. Watch out for more details on Diablo II: Lord of Destruction at E3.
