Slight Deus Ex Delay

Last week we brought you word that Aspyr Media was expecting the Mac version of the first-person shooter/RPG hybrid Deus Ex to be released today, July 7. Gamers anxious to get their hands on this game should note that the Aspyr web site has been updated with a new date of the 12th. This isn't a huge change, and such minor delays are common in the manufacturing and publishing process. If you have preordered this game, start watching your mailbox next week.
In related news, the new fansite MacDeusEx.com has recently posted a quick chat with Westlake Interactive's Ken Cobb about the Mac port. One point of interest from the interview might be the "older" machine Cobb used in the port development - not all developers use the latest hardware, by any means! Here's an excerpt:
Langly: What types of computers are you using to create the game? What types of computers do you use to test on?Head on over to check out the rest of the interview. We'll also keep you updated if the release date slips any further, but we don't anticipate any further delays.
Ken: I did most of the work on an old Beige G3/266. I recently received a new G4/500 with 256MB RAM and 27GB hard disk, which is really great. Of course, the first thing I did was get a new keyboard (MicroConnectors) and mouse (Logitech 3-button with a wheel). I also have a Rage 128 Pro and a Voodoo3 for video testing, and 2 17" monitors.
