Games On Net has posted a new interview with City of Heroes lead designer Melissa Bianco and senior producer Jesse Caceres. The game developers discussed Going Rogue, the latest expansion for the super hero themed MMO. The expansion features a new alignment system, two new primary fictional characters, and the new threat of the parallel universe known as Praetoria.

games.on.net: What repercussions will changing sides have on their previous history? For example, would a reformed villain be able to return to the Rogue Isles and chill out with his previously bosom buddies?

Jesse: When a character switches their alignment from a Villain to a Hero (and vice versa), all of their contacts and missions from their previous alignment are saved. If a reformed Villain returns to the Rogue Isles as a Villain, the character will be able to resume their relationships with their contacts. Additionally, if the Villain has out leveled their old contacts, the Villain can use the Flashback system to experience any content that they may have missed during their moral journey.

games.on.net: How have villain/hero swaps affected your planning for PVP? Have you prepared yourself to be inundated with complaints like "Hero Masterminds are totally OP!"?

Melissa: Hero and Villain swaps present a very interesting opportunity for PvP planning because now there isnít one side or the other that can say, ďTheir side is overpowered. They have X, Y or Z archetype that has this power.Ē When you have a mix of all types of archetypes, the playing field has the potential to change and even out somewhat. Iím sure that no matter what I say, there will be those whose opinion is that this is overpowered or that has been nerfed too much for PvP and I can appreciate that. PvPers are an exceptionally passionate group and they want the best chance for success so I would expect nothing less.
