Brainstem Games, an indie game development company based in Eureka Springs, AR, will be showcasing its first title at this year's Austin Game Developers' Conference.
The game, ON Chapter 1: Obscura Nomen, is a 3D multiplayer space shooter. Up to 32 players can take on the role of pilots for either the horse-like Mhori or the cat-like Mentki in a series of space battles. Each battle takes place on a unique map tailored for a specific mode of play. Players can participate in a soccer-like match, join with other players as a team to destroy the opposing team's base, or fight against all other players in a free-for-all competition for the highest score.
"We've created a really unique game that brings together players on three different PC platforms to share in the same online multiplayer experience," said Patrick Wilkinson, President of Brainstem Games. "We've targeted a middle system spec requirement, so you won't need to upgrade or purchase a new system to run our game. We've noticed a trend of gamers that have been limited to older first-person shooter (FPS) games simply because their systems can't run newer and more hardware demanding titles. Our game fills the need for new FPS games on aging hardware."Brainstem Games plans to release Obscura Nomen later this year. The game will be available as a digital download for Mac, Windows, and Linux platforms.
