Applelinks has posted a new review of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, a game which gives players the chance to create a successful amusement park and build fan pleasing roller coaster attractions. Applelinks gave the game a score of 3 out of 5.
From the review:
First, the virtual camera function is very cool, and works well even on aging software like my three year old Powerbook. It gave exciting, detailed, you-are-there views of the ride from several angles, switching effortlessly between them, and even between cars on the ride. The real excitement of RCT3, however, is in building your own scream machine. Like a giant Lego box, the game allows you to construct a roller coaster, test it, tweak it, and get it working to real world conditions. I was surprised at how much fun this bit was: even moreso because I got into the spirit of the game, trying to make the best roller coaster I could, balancing the big hills with the minor thrills, the bank turns, loops, and so on. Of course, if you're playing the campaign mode, you also have to keep turnaround in mind, giving the customers their money's worth while also making sure you can get as many people onto the ride throughout the day as possible.
