MIT researcher Jeff Orkin sends IMG word of a new game-based research project now available for Mac OS X called simply The Restaurant Game. Having previously worked on the AI for games such as No One Lives Forever 2, Orkin is using this new Torque-based game to authomatically gather player information to create a game.
Here's more information on The Restaurant Game:
The Restaurant Game is a research project at the MIT Media Lab that will algorithmically combine the gameplay experiences of thousands of players to create a new game. In a few months, we will apply machine learning algorithms to data collected through the multiplayer Restaurant Game, and produce a new single-player game that we will enter into the 2008 Independent Games Festival. Everyone who plays The Restaurant Game will be credited as a Game Designer. We have had over 1,200 games played in the first few weeks, and are aiming to capture many more.Head over to the game's site now to download the Mac OS X client. While the current version does not work on Intel Macs, they are planning a Universal Binary release soon.
