Chronic Logic, award winning developer of casual games for PC, Mac, and Linux recently revealed their sales statistics for one of their puzzle games, Triptych. The fast-paced physics based block dropping game has sold just under a thousand copies for $14.95 each over the past five years and is a financial success when looking at the development costs were under $200 dollars. Chronic Logic also mentions the decision to bring the game to the Mac and Linux platforms had an impact on sales.
A couple of magazine CD cover deals overseas made up a majority of the non chroniclogic sales income. I think releasing the OSX and Linux versions and doing patches to improve the look and feel of the game helped extend the product life. Please follow the links below to learn more information.
