MacWorld: 2.66GHz MacPro Sets Speed Mark

MacWorld finally got their hands on their first MacPro desktops and released the benchmarks. The standard configuration of the MacPro beat the G5 predecessors by a "wide margin".
One of the many tests MacWorld used was the common Unreal Trournament 2004 test that they have used on previous generations:
Running the Unreal Tournament 2004 Botmatch, the Mac Pro’s lead widened.... 47 percent more frames per second in UT2004 than the fastest Power Mac G5.(the test used Unreal Tournament 2004’ Antalus Botmatch average-frames-per-second score; we tested at a resolution of 1,024 by 768 pixels at the Maximum setting with both audio and graphics enabled.)
This is the first game-related benchmark we have seen from the new generation of Macs using the dual-core 2.66GHz Xeon chips and it looks fantastic.
Read MacWorld's full benchmark following the link below and stay tuned for further tests including the 3GHz system.
