Warren Spector Quotes 11:12 AM | Eddie Park | 3 comments
Next Generation has posted an interesting article concerning a lecture given by Warren Spector, well-known designer of titles such as Deus Ex and System Shock. Given at an Austin Community College, the article presents some of Spector's more interesting ramblings in the form of a series of quotes. While most of the quotes concern his views on the game industry itself, some of them do allude to other ideas he has as well as where he might possibly like to go. A sampling: "Steam, I’ve made no secret – I’m not talking about what we’re doing, but I’m working with Valve right now on a Steam delivered project…""There is a chance that I will work on a game very soon, that is photo-realistic, and modern-day, because it’s amazing how easily you can be typecast… If I end up working on a photo-realistic, modern-day game where a guy wears dark sunglasses, carries two guns, you know, and shoots his way through…I will kill myself, alright? Not really." The quotes are quite candid, and paint an interesting view on the current state of the industry, with Spector mentioning everything from his disappointment with the latest E3 to expressing interest in making a game like a musical, complete with singing and dancing.
