Macteens has posted a review of id Software's Doom 3, a modern day interpretation of the original Doom first person shooter. Cloaked in dark shadows and cutting edge graphics, Doom 3 puts players in the boots of a lone marine facing off against a horde of evil creatures from the pits of hell. Macteens gave the game a score of 2.5 out of 5.

From the review:

Throughout the game you have a chance to download data from your recently deceased coworkers, ostensibly to flesh out the inadequacies of the back-story provided, but these end up falling flat. The sample conversations and emails could possibly be summarized as “umm, guys there’s weird noises coming from the lower levels. Its really creepy man. I hope everything turns out okay right.” To add salt to your wounds, you are forced to listen to these if you want to find out the combinations to certain weapon and ammo lockers, a poorly designed way to “integrate” the player with the game, which gets really annoying soon and probably won’t be duplicated for the inevitable Doom 4: Murder Simulator Xtreme. About the only thing worse than the story is the game play, which is akin to, but not as fun as compulsively starting and shutting off your car for hours at a time.
