Two of the minds behind the Civilization game series, Sid Meier and Soren Johnson sat down to chat with Gamespy on this year's gaming scope. In the interview, they discuss a range of topics such as console vs. PC, retail vs. download, upcoming Firaxis titles, and gaming in general. Below is a snippet from the interview.
GameSpy: I was always surprised at what people have been able to do with Civilization without the source code and tools. Please click on the links below to learn more information.
Johnson: Oh yeah! They came up with stuff in Civ III that -- well, like landmines. And we were saying, "No! They couldn't do that ... okay, they did." They figured it out. There are lots of cool mods out there.
We were really inspired by all the interface mods that you could do with World of Warcraft. The fact that they were able to do that at such a high level -- in such a cheat-prone type of game, without any problems -- we thought, "We should be able to do that."
