Macworld's Game Room is featuring a review of Pac the Man X, McSebi's freeware homage to the classic ghost evading pellet gobbler. While not a direct copy of the original, PtMX follows the same theme. The game features support for the latest macs, a variety of levels, and a multiplayer mode allowing two players on one Mac. The Game Room gave Pac the Man X 4.5 mice out of 5.
From the review:
Thanks to an updated OpenGL graphics engine, the gameís animation effects are silky smooth and much improved. There are also stereo sound effects and multiple music themes; you can set the themes to play randomly or just choose the ones you like. A level editor is available for download from Stone Design. The game can be downloaded from Macgamefiles.com.
The latest version of the game (1.0.2) is Universal, so it should run well on a new iMac or MacBook Pro. But you donít need the latest hardware to play. The game requires a 500MHz G3 or faster Mac with an OpenGL-compatible graphics system and at least 16MB of VRAM.
