Gamespot recently posted a review of Lionhead Studios' latest game, The Movies. The Movies is a "tycoon-style" game the puts players in the roles of studio heads as well as filmmakers. Similar to the recently announced Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, The Movies allows for resource management gameplay through studio development (like the park creation in RCT3), and creative gameplay through filmmaking (like the rollercoaster construction of RCT3). From the Gamespot article:
This is a game of high quality, and it shows in virtually every aspect of its execution. But all told, The Movies comes just shy of its lofty ambitions. Being a movie studio boss is completely absorbing, and there is really no other game, or, really, any piece of software that makes it as easy to build your own little movies. But the connection between these concepts is tenuous at best. Thankfully, its best qualities shine through more than enough to make The Movies a game well worth playing. While The Movies has not been announced on the Mac, given the strong relationship between Lionhead Studios and Feral Interactive, as well as the success of "tycoon-style" games on the Mac, a port seems likely.
