Yesterday Ubisoft announced the release of Myst V: End of Ages, the grand finale of one of the best known adventure games of all time. It is shipping and should be arriving in U.S. stores this week. The release of the game coincides with the 12th anniversary of the franchise's debut. Sadly for fans, the release of Myst V also comes on the heels of Cyan Worlds closing.
“It’s bittersweet launching Myst V: End of Ages, the final chapter of the Myst story,” says Tony Kee, vice president of marketing at Ubisoft. “But we are also really excited about the innovation and new features of the game and can’t wait until the fans get their hands on it. What better way to send off the greatest adventure game of all time than with the best installment of the series.”The final episode in the series is described as the most dramatic and immersive experience to date, with photorealistic 3D scenes, innovative new slate and in-game help systems, and intricate puzzles.
Myst V: End of Ages has an ESRB rating of “E” (Everyone) and a suggested retail price of $59.99 for the Limited Edition which contains the Mac version of the game. The game is currently available for pre-order from Macgamestore.com and should be shipping in a matter of days.
