Over The Edge Entertainment has announced the winners of its Unity Dashboard Challenge, a contest which asked entrants to create a game using the Unity game development and widget creation software. A grand prize winner and a runner up were chosen for each of three categories.
The People's Love Ballot category, based on visitor votes, went to Open Fire Beta 12. The action widget allows players to wipe out armies of tanks and jeeps driving across the screen. Banana Warehouse, a game involving using a forklift to move crates of bananas, won runner up honors.
The Grand Prix of the Jury category winner, chosen by OTEE employees, was Overwhelmed Arena: a polished arcade space shooter with four ships to choose from, two levels, and advanced enemy AI. Runner up postion went to Isle of Towerguard, a 3D world exploration widget based on an artist's sketch.
The Project Files of Deep Wisdom category, chosen from games which were open source, was given to SpaceDoc. The game tasks players with navigating a dangerous asteroid field to rescue the stranded passengers of disabled vessels. Sol System Defender, an arcade shooter also set in outer space, managed to snag runner up position.
The grand prize winner of The People's Love Ballot received a Unity Pro license and an ATI Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition. The Grand Prix of the Jury winner also received an X800 in addition to a license for Unity Indie. The project Files of Deep Wisdom winner received a license for Unity Indie and the best five entrants in the category scored a copy of Ambrosia's Gooball.
Runner ups won an Inside Mac Games Pro subscription, and all entrants to the contest were given a 15% off coupon for the purchase of the Unity software.
