Darwinia Received EIEF Award, Beta Testing Started

The folks at Introversion have recently received an award for Darwinia. Given by the Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival, they overcame the likes of titles such as Half Life 2 and Rome: Total War to win this year's "People's Choice Award," apparently by a fairly significant margin.
In related news, beta testing for the revamped demo has currently begun. Besides implementing a new control scheme, the demo also includes a number of cutscenes and custom buildings that help flesh out its self-contained mini-story.
The new demo is still very rough around the edges - it's what we call "Minimum Quality" at Introversion, which means there are still a lot of placeholders. All of the new buildings are in placeholder form, and there are no new sounds or music yet. These things will be added during the beta phase. As reported a few months ago, Darwinia is currently undergoing major revisions. Introversion plans on updating and revising portions of the game based on player feedback, and is currently at work on a brand new demo.
