World of Warcraft Reaches 1.5 Million Chinese Customers
7:39 AM | Blake Buck | Comment on this story

Yesterday, Blizzard Entertainment announced World of Warcraft has reached 1.5 million subscribers in China, making it the largest massively multiplayer online roleplaying game in the world with 3.5 million customers. Blizzard's Chinese partner, The9, offers 24-hour support to its Chinese players with an all Chinese staff. The9 provides players with localization of content, update synchronization, and delivers feedback to the developers. Mike Morhaime, president and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment, recently commented on the success of the Chinese release:

“World of Warcraft’s success in China has quickly exceeded our expectations, and seeing Chinese gamers respond so enthusiastically to the game has been extremely gratifying. We thank the players for embracing World of Warcraft, our partner The9 for helping to make all of this possible, and the Chinese authorities for their support of Blizzard Entertainment.”
With the continued success of World of Warcraft, Blizzard is hard at work on new content and even an expansion. IMG will have more news on World of Warcraft as it develops.
