AMD Sues Intel
9:32 AM | Jesse Brauning | Comment on this story

Intel, the microprocessor giant, grows bigger everyday. Just about every Mac user who cares knows that Intel will soon be making chips for Macs as well as the other major operating systems. Add it all up, and Intel controls 80% of the microprocessor market and with the addition of the Macintosh, that number can only rise. Unfortunately, everything isn't fine and dandy for Intel either. AMD, one of Intel's largest competitors, has sued the company for allegedly bullying 38 companies into exclusive deals and the like. This comes in the wake of existing investigations and warnings by Japan's Fair Trade Commission and the European Commission. So how bad is this for Intel? Yahoo! News asked Rick Whittington, who is a Caris & Co. analyst. He said this:

"The timing of this suit, in our view, is Sales and Marketing 101," he said in a research note. "Get the attention of the customer as market demand heats up and you have sizable supply coming down the pike. Put the competitor, to whatever extent possible, on the ropes and force them to adopt less aggressive sales tactics, if even marginal."
So don't expect Intel to fold anytime soon folks. The link to the Yahoo! article is right here:
