Recognized by many as one of the top defining icons in the world of video games, Pac-Man has officially turned 25 this year. As noted in a recent CNN article, the little yellow gobbler has been around since 1980, and has persevered throughout the ages, with Pac-Man titles being released even today.
Various milestones pointed out in the article include the subsequent arcade iterations spawned by the original Pac-Man, Billy Mitchell and his perfect Pac-Man game, and a real-life enactment of Pac-Man's game mechanics as a final project for a group of New York University students.
Besides the several new Pac-Man console games slated for this year, Namco is working on a 25th anniversary edition of the original arcade machine.
