OS X Tiger Boosts Game Performance?

Recent purchasers of Mac OS X 10.4 may have some unexpected good news awaiting them. BareFeats has compared perfomance of OS X 10.4 "Tiger" and OS X 10.3 "Panther," and the conclusion is that Tiger is faster for programs using system math functions. In particular, Doom 3 had a large speed boost, gaining a frames-per-second boost of over 10%. Halo was also tested, and gained a more conservative performance upgrade.
