Electronic Arts has announced the newest game in the Harry Potter franchise, to coincide with the November 2005 release of the newest movie in the series, The Goblet of Fire.
For the first time in the series, the game's protagonists will be modeled after their silver-screen counterparts. Harry, Ron, and Hermione will all be playable characters in the game. Players will be able to team up in cooperative play to produce stronger spell effects.
"Working with EA, we look forward to offering players a highly developed Harry Potter game with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," said Jason Hall, Senior Vice President for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "The game will possess the extremely creative aspects of the Harry Potter world captured in both the film and the book, giving fans a complete interactive experience."Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is scheduled for release on the Playstation 2, PSP, Nintendo DS, GameCube, GameBoy Advance, Xbox, and PC platforms. There has been no official announcement on a Macintosh release, but the first two games in the series were brought to us courtesy of Aspyr, and we can only hope that they, or another Mac publisher, are able to pick this up, as well.
