Lux Creator Interviewed 12:13 PM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story
GamersInfo has recently posted the results of an interview with Dustin Sacks, creator of Lux. Inspired by the classic strategy boardgame Risk, Lux takes the world-conquering formula and runs with it, allowing for map creation and online play. The interview covers various topics, including Sacks' dissatisfaction with other Risk-style games leading to the creation of Lux. He also notes how the name Lux came about, as well as how the map creation system was inspired. The game was designed from the start to be able to handle arbitrary board layouts. An eager user then contacted me volunteering to create the map from Risk (kudos to AJ Bertenshaw). With his help I tweaked the map format to include some more elements that were needed. Once that happened I published the map file format on the web and users started creating new and funky designs. Other topics include the possibility of a sequel, favorite maps, and future updates to Lux. More information on Lux itself can be found at Sillysoft's site.
