Schwarznegger Signs California Game Law

Discussed in an earlier IMG article, GameSpot has posted news that the California Assembly Bill 1793 has been formally passed and signed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The bill requires that game stores display signs that point out the availability of the rating system, and that brochures be made available that explain the system.
While some CA retailers may not be crazy about the new law, it's a far cry from the original form. Championed by Assemblyman Leland Yee, the original intent was to classify all M-rated games as harmful to children, which would have imposed stricter guidelines on retailers selling of those games.
More information on the bill itself, including its various incarnations, can be found at the GameSpot article.
