Kalypso Media has announced a September 19 release date for Tropico 5. The next installment of the dictatorial city-builder series is currently in development at Haemimont Studios and allows players to start their reign during colonial times and maintain control beyond the 21st century.

Loyal citizens and lovers of Tropico! The Tropican Department of Information has an important message from your beloved ruler El Presidente - Tropico 5 will be released for Mac & Linux on the 19th of September. In just a few weeks, Mac/Linux players can also visit the island paradise of Tropico, where the people don’t even have to think for themselves and the burden of voting is kindly relieved by the government. Get yourself a job in Tropico’s booming llama industry, admire quaint historical landmarks such as the Cold War era military base and relax on the beach with Tropico’s own take on the Manhattan – which contains absolutely no alcohol. The Mac/Linux version of Tropico 5 includes cross-platform multiplayer via SteamPlay, Full Controller and Big Picture Mode support. Plus, if you’ve already bought Tropico 5 for PC, then you can download the Mac/Linux edition for absolutely free via Steam cross-buy!

Take on the role of El Presidente in Tropico 5 for Mac & Linux this September and found your own city, build a powerful dynasty and rule across the eras. Or prove your dictator skills/team work (delete where applicable) in competitive and co-operative multiplayer.

Packed with a whole host of new gameplay features and all new artwork designed from scratch, Tropico 5 takes the series into a new and exciting direction – dynasties!

You, as El Presidente, will first take control of the infamous island of Tropico during early colonial times and then guide it through the centuries as the world changes and moves ever forward. You must tackle the changing needs of your people, as well as opposing governments and factions, and thus lay the foundations for your own dynasty. As you move through your years in office you can promote members of your extended family on the island to positions of power: such as ambassador, commanding general or even Supreme Ruler, to ensure your legacy thrives through the eras.

As well as a wealth of other new features, including advanced trading mechanics, technology, scientific research trees and island exploration, Tropico 5 will add cooperative and competitive multiplayer for up to four players for the first time in the series’ history! Viva El Presidente!

Tropico 5 is available to pre-order now for $39.99 (USD).

Wasteland 2 Combat Trailer Released
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 3 comments

InXile Entertainment has unveiled a new trailer showcasing the character and combat system in its upcoming Wasteland 2 RPG. Scheduled to launch September 19, the sequel to the classic post-apocalyptic RPG of the 80's will be a top down, turn-based, tactical RPG that the developers promise will "stay true to its roots."

Wasteland 2 is the direct sequel to 1988’s Wasteland, the first-ever post-apocalyptic computer RPG and the inspiration behind the Fallout series. Until Wasteland, no other CRPG had ever allowed players to control and command individual party members for tactical purposes or given them the chance to make moral choices that would directly affect the world around them. Wasteland was a pioneer in multi-path problem solving, dripping in choice and consequence and eschewing the typical one-key-per-lock puzzle solving methods of its peers, in favor of putting the power into players’ hands to advance based on their own particular play style.

The Wasteland series impressive and innovative lineage has been preserved at its very core, but modernized for the fans of today with Wasteland 2. Immerse yourself in turn-based tactical combat that will test the very limits of your strategy skills as you fight to survive a desolate world where brute strength alone isn’t enough to save you. Deck out your Ranger squad with the most devastating weaponry this side of the fallout zone and get ready for maximum destruction with the RPG-style character advancement and customization that made the first Wasteland so brutal. Save an ally from certain death or let them perish – the choice is yours, but so are the consequences.

Key Features:

  • One Size Does Not Fit All: Don't feel like finding the key for a door? Why not try a Rocket Launcher! Basically the same thing... right?
  • Enhanced Classic RPG Game Play: Classic RPG game play ideas updated with modern design philosophies.
  • Decision Making... with Consequences: With both short and long term reactivity to the players choices, every decision matters in the outcome of the story.
  • Huge & Customizable: Dozens of hours of game. Hundreds of characters. Thousands of variations on your Rangers' appearance. Over 150 weapons. Dozens of skills. Even the UI can be customized.
Mac Minimum Requirements:
  • OS: Mac OSX 10.5 or higher
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 2.4 GHz
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 300 Series or Radeon equivalent
  • Hard Drive: 30 GB available space
