Control Command Escape Reviews Heroes & Legends
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Control Command Escape has posted a new review of the recently released Heroes & Legends: Conquerors of Kolhar from Phoenix Online Publishing. The game blends combat and strategy elements, giving players the chance to assemble a party of fantasy heroes against waves of enemies in both story driven and randomly generated battles.

Heroes & Legends: Conquerors of Kolhar is a very simple game. I'm completely fine with that. Sometimes you just want a bit of mindless fun, a bit of click-click-clicking to pass an hour or two. Heroes & Legends: Conquerors of Kolhar could certainly be that game. You take control of three typical fantasy heroes, and send them off to defeat wave after wave of fantasy evil-doers in fast, decision-driven battles, collecting ever-more powerful items, leveling up, and learning ever-more powerful skills. To mix things up a bit, there's a map where you can pick from different battles, and there's also a crafting system, where you can salvage items for resources that can be used to create yet more items to help you turn the tide of battle. To top it all off, Heroes & Legends has a bright, cartoony visual style and as a result, is very pleasant to look at.

Why Mac Gaming Needs More Community
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 20 comments

Mac Gamer HQ's Ric Molina has posted a new opinion piece on the importance of community in Mac Gaming. The post explains the power of a united gaming community, one which could potentially influence game developers and even Apple computer.

Why community?

The answer to this question may not be obvious at first but the benefits of a strong community of Mac gamers are huge:

  • Imagine a community so big that more developers would be forced to pay attention to the Mac platform
  • Imagine a community so strong that even Apple would be forced to acknowledge it and support it (with better OpenGL support for example)
  • Imagine a community so tight where you can find a guy who has the same Mac as yours and the same game you want. He could just tell you (or even show you) how well it runs instead of you taking a guess based on system requirements.
And then there’s the snow ball effect. Do you have any idea of how many people have a Mac but don’t even dare to game on it? You know why they don’t? Simply because trolls tells them that “it sucks”.

The more people realize the potential of Mac Gaming, the more Mac users will give it a shot, hence creating a virtuous circle.
