Danish independent studio Full Control has announced development on a new standalone edition of Space Hulk for personal computers. Space Hulk: Ascension Edition will add another layer to Space Hulk with the introduction of RPG elements, Genestealer variations, new mechanics, and a new Space Marine chapter. It will be available for Mac, Windows, and Linux PCs and is expected to be released in the fourth quarter of this year.

Space Hulk: Ascension Edition is a 3D, digital, turn based, strategy game, which builds upon the classic board game experience, and adds new RPG style mechanics, additional weapons and enemy types, an all-new chapter and loads of other new features to both the single player and multiplayer experience. Set in the isolated corridors and tomb-like chambers of ancient vessels lost in the graveyard of space, players lead a small force of fearless Space Marine Terminators in a ferocious fight for survival against hordes of predatory, alien Genestealers. The game comes with over 100 missions spread out over 3 complete campaigns, and all new flash missions. These are opportunistic mini-missions encountered as you explore the deep unknowns of the Space Hulk that can yield a tactical advantage or be a deadly trap.
The introduction of squad management and skill progression lets players build their own squads of hardened veterans. There are also new variations of Genestealers to face, and more complex maps to overcome, making the game more fun, challenging and rewarding to play. Space Hulk: Ascension Edition also introduces the Ultramarine chapter, combi weapons and the mighty Cyclone missile launcher as new weapon options, which are sure to shake things up on the battlefield.

Sierra Returns With New King's Quest, Geometry Wars

Activision recently announced a return from the ashes for Sierra, known for a variety of popular classic series such as King's Quest. Sierra will exist as an Activision studio focusing on "innovative, edgy and graphically unique" indie titles. The first two titles in the pipeline are an all new King's Quest, scheduled to launch next year, and a new Geometry Wars, planned for a 2014 holiday release.
With a renowned history that’s served as the origin for many nostalgic video game characters, worlds and experiences, Sierra™ continues on today in a return to form that fans of great games will love. A part of Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard (Nasdaq: ATVI), Sierra’s focus is on indie studios developing innovative, edgy and graphically unique games, including new IPs and contemporary reimaginings of beloved Sierra classics. In development by the beloved and quirky studio The Odd Gentlemen (The Misadventures of PB Winterbottom), King’s Quest is a fully reimagined version of the fan-favorite Sierra game fit for both the old and new generation of King’s Quest players. Huge fans of the original King’s Quest series, The Odd Gentlemen are crafting a charming new adventure with an awe-inspiring art style, engaging puzzles, and a wondrous interactive narrative brimming with humor. In the new story, King Graham – revered as the greatest adventurer to ever live – shares his life’s adventures with his curious granddaughter, Gwendolyn. It is through these tales that Gwendolyn discovers the true greatness of her grandfather. King’s Quest is expected to make its heralded return in 2015.

The first title set to launch under Sierra is Geometry Wars3: Dimensions from the team at Lucid Games. Geometry Wars3: Dimensions is an exciting new evolution of the fast-paced, frenetic Geometry Wars gameplay fans love, and will introduce full 3D action and both cooperative and competitive multiplayer for the first time in the franchise. In addition to a full single-player campaign with 50 unique challenges and over 10 battle modes – five of which are brand new to the series – Geometry Wars3: Dimensions features dynamic and persistent progression, offering players a consistently new experience each time they play. Blackguards 2 Official Teaser Trailer Unveiled

Daedalic Entertainment has unveiled an official teaser trailer for Blackguards 2, the sequel to the unique RPG set in the universe of The Dark Eye. Blackguards 2 will continue the original's focus on turn-based battles and will add the ability to recapture enemy territory. Other new additions include optional quests, new weapons, new armor, new enemies, and stamina as an additional battle resource.

We listened carefully to all the community- and press-feedback on the games’ successful first appearance to make the second one even better.
Blackguards 2 will again be based on the RPG rulebook of The Dark Eye, but it will come along with some revisions, optimisations and simplifications. The gameplay will focus on turn-based battles once more and will now feature fraction-based gameplay-elements where you can can recapture the enemies’ territories.
If not in a battle, you have to take care of a lot of quests and the development of your characters. As common in RPGs, the quests will offer optional and alternative plotlines.
Furthermore, Blackguards 2 will have new weapons, armour, enemies and stamina as additional battle resource.
On top of that, Blackguards 2 will involve mechanics that have been requested by the community of the first game, like improved line of sight, cover and formation.
