Kalypso Media and Skilltree Studios have announced work on Crookz, a new tactical strategy game. Set in the 1970's the game challenges players to show off their criminal planning skills by plotting and executing heists and robberies. To succeed they'll need to pick the best team, gather the right equipment, and handle unexpected complications creatively.

Put on your best pair of flared-jeans, stick on the funkiest record you can find and begin a plot to form the elaborate heists that will fuel a whole era of hedonism. Developed by Skilltree Studios, Crookz is a brand new tactical strategy game from Kalypso Media with a funky 1970’s setting. Organise a band of fun-loving misfits and help them on their way to riches and debauchery by plotting high-risk heists and robberies with maximum reward. Utilise stealth, cunning and cool equipment like chloroform and camera jammers to craftily overcome the dangerous encounters found in this particular line of work. Every member of the gang has a different skill-set; so embrace their unique play-styles and approach each job creatively with a mix of quick-thinking and tactical strategy gameplay. Above all though - look as cool as a cat while doing it.

It’s the 1970’s: the era of Funk, flared jeans and disco-fueled Saturday nights. A crack team of expert thieves turn Grand Larceny into an art-form by using their many talents to break into the richest homes and steal the finest jewellery - all to finance their hedonistic lifestyles. That is until a lucrative museum heist in Venice involving a famous jewel known as ‘The Green Tiger’ ends in betrayal and the team broken apart. Five years later the remaining gang members reunite with a plot for revenge against their traitorous former comrade – but naturally, their plan will also make them rich beyond their wildest dreams…

Crookz is a tactical strategy game set in the funky 1970’s with a slick and groovy atmosphere. Explore The Road Not Taken
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Spry Fox has announced the release of Road Not Taken. Described as an original single-player roguelike puzzle game, Road Not Taken casts players in the role of an enigmatic ranger who must choose how best to use his 15 years of life in a town which loses children every year to a treacherous frozen forest.

“It starts out looking like a simple puzzle game, but underneath is a mysterious procedurally-generated world that is loaded with secrets.” explained Daniel Cook, Chief Creative Officer of Spry Fox. “We tried to create a life in miniature, where there’s no ‘best’ way to play. It’ll take the average person dozens of hours to master all the various encounters and strategies in Road Not Taken. And like most good roguelikes, it is not a forgiving game. You can expect to die repeatedly.”

Players walk Road Not Taken as an enigmatic ranger and newcomer to a town which every winter loses several of its children to the freezing, treacherous nearby forest. Every year, your hero can opt to brave the brutal blizzards and challenging labyrinths of the forest to rescue these trapped younglings. But with a lifetime of only 15 years, and endless puzzling possibilities presented by the constantly shifting routes, objects, obstacles, hazards and predators of the forest, each venture into the woods is a test that requires careful thought. Your actions (or inaction) will impact not only your own life’s story, but those of the friends you make, loves you forge and village you call home.

That journey is bolstered by Spry Fox’s dynamic puzzle structure, deep crafting system and distinctive artwork for Road Not Taken, featuring beautiful 2D sprite design and evocative sound and music effects.

Road Not Taken is rated E (Everyone) by the ESRB, can be purchased for $14.99 on PlayStation 4, and is currently on sale for 20% off on Steam for Mac and Windows operating systems. Players can find the game on Steam by clicking here. It is also available for free to PlayStation Plus subscribers. For more information on Road Not Taken or its developers, please visit the game’s website, or visit Spry Fox on Facebook and Twitter.
