Enforcer - Justice Law Order Announced
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Excalibur has announced a partnership with Brazilian developer Odin Game Studio to publish Odin's Enforcer - Justice Law Order. The third person action simulator for Mac and Windows PCs brings the world of the Mountain Valley Police Department to life as players seek to eliminate the criminal threat plaguing the small American town.

Commenting on the deal, Excalibur’s Head of Marketing, Richard Barclay offered: ‘Enforcer - Justice Law Order will fill a much needed gap in the market for a good quality third person action simulator. Players will become a law abiding policeman or woman in a large open world. Partnered with the faithful depiction of small town America which is a key focus of the gameplay, the player will need to juggle crime fighting as a member of the Mountain Valley PD along with their off duty life too.”

Odin’s founder, Alexandre Kikuchi, commented: “Having focused our business on developing very successful advergames and apps for the past two years, we have taken that experience and produced a very good PC action simulation game in Enforcer: Justice Law Order. Working with Excalibur will enable us to broaden our success and deliver our game ideas to a much larger audience.”

Enforcer: Justice Law Order is a sandbox game that will simulate the life of a police officer, more like a sheriff or a state patrol. The player will have on and off duty days and will be able to pick up a woman or a man for the job and build a career.

Since we are aiming for a more detailed gameplay mixing RPG, action and adventure, the game world is set in a small Town and rural areas (roads crossing, etc), where the players also can visit other surroundings areas (there will be more than 5 maps).

Our mission is to have a game where the players can enjoy a "sandbox police experience", with all places having enough immersion to keep the player hooked into the game and discover all kind of missions and crimes that a small Town, dominated by criminals and drug lords, can offer.

Patrol a small Town as a police officer in an immersive sandbox environment and build your career. Customize your house, take your own vehicle and be part of different non-linear missions. Take your day off to explore the Town or visit relatives. But be prepared, you never know when crime happens.

The game is expected to launch this October. Learn more at the links below.

Telepath Tactics Update Reveals Map Editor Flexibility
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Sinister Design has posted a new blog article about development on Telepath Tactics, revealing information about what has been added to the game recently. Set in the world of the Telepath RPG universe, the turn-based multiplayer tactics game will feature support for up to six players in hotseat mode, a new art style, redesigned UI, and a new combat engine.

I gave a small group of Chicago game developers a guided introduction to using the map editor, and to editing data within the Telepath Tactics framework.

There was a surprising amount to cover–so much so that after two hours of introduction, when I let everyone break off and start experimenting, there was almost zero overlap in terms of what people subsequently focused on! Rob Lockhart (whom you might know as the developer behind Codemancer) immediately started work on programming a Turing machine using the Telepath Tactics scripting system; Don Alsafi began constructing elaborate dialog trees in the dialog editor for an interactive adventure game; and Ryan Wiemeyer (of The Men Who Wear Many Hats) began work on a tactical campaign with Organ Trail graphics, tiles, objects, items, and attacks.

In essence, I think I’ve finally nailed one of my big goals with Telepath Tactics: to make it incredibly powerful and flexible for modders (to say nothing of developers who want to make their own, full-fledged games). Still, watching so many people work has helped motivate me to make a number of significant improvements to the map editor. The tools are good, but they can always be better!
