Begin Your Quest For Infamy
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Phoenix Online Studios and Infamous Quest recently announced the release of the adventure/RPG hybrid Quest for Infamy. The game features a humorous story with a blend of turn-based combat and puzzle solving adventure elements. Players choose from three unique classes and set forth to explore a world filled with fantasy adventures.

The land of Lonaria is a beautiful place, albeit full of dangers and rogues with nefarious agendas. You play as Roehm, a man on the run from a baron whilst caught in the act of trying to defile his daughter. Heading west, he finds himself in the Valley of Krasna and in the arms of J.S. Rayford, sheriff of the quaint town of Volksville. Seeking to escape further north, Roehm quickly finds out that the bridge is out and he’s stuck in town for several days.

Three factions end up vieing for your attention: the brigands led by Kurdt, the rogues led by Ian, and the mysterious sorcerer Prospero. Who do you side with? Will Rayford make you do his dirty work for him? What does the mysterious cult of Taargh want with the Valley? And will your quest for infamy yield fruit? Only by purchasing the game will you find out.

Mechs & Mercs: Black Talons Enters The Fray Later This Year
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Kasedo Games has announced that Mechs & Mercs: Black Talons, a new intergalactic real-time tactics game developed by independent studio Camel 101, will be released in the fourth quarter of 2014. Players take command of the Black Talons mercenary company stranded on a planet in the middle of a invasion and forced to fight if they hope to escape.

Take command of the Black Talons company, a fearless mercenary unit currently stationed in the Oberon system providing needed military support in a galaxy torn apart by ruthless dictators and power-hungry warlords. The Black Talons provide everything from specialist squads and supplies, to entire armies, bases – and even powerful mechs of warfare. This comes at a price, of course – but in a universe controlled by the corrupt, is it enough to stand by and watch while great cities burn to the ground and whole civilisations are destroyed all in the name of conquest?

A devastating war has torn the galaxy apart. Dozens of planets and star systems have declared independence or forged new alliances, while governments fall and warlords rise to power. Chaos and corruption are everywhere and so to maintain order and negotiate peace between the ruling factions, private mercenary armies are called to action.

You are commander of the Black Talons company, currently stationed in the Oberon system. After a fierce campaign, the military Tzanar Union has overrun the planet of Genai and blocked all departure from the system: leaving you and the Black Talons stranded. The only means of escape is to help the Genai forces repel the invading army and recapture the planet.

Features of Mechs & Mercs: Black Talons

  • Extensive campaign mode where the actions of the player have a direct impact on the local system’s balance of power
  • Persistent and fully customizable squads
  • Various unit classes with specialized roles and their own distinctive set of weapons, abilities and skill trees
  • 5 worlds with differing environments and weather conditions that directly affect battle
  • Powerful mechs can enter the battlefield and turn the tide of combat
  • Customize and upgrade your base with weapons and infrastructure that will boost squad numbers, teleport soldiers or even bombard the battlefield
  • Faction relations influence a player’s progress throughout the game: either by giving access to unique units or interfering with missions

Battle Fleet 2 Sets Sail July 17
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Capital j Media has announced it will launch Battle Fleet 2 on July 17, 2014 on Mac, iOS, Android, and Windows, with cross platform multiplayer across all devices. In the game the player controls the angle and power of their guns and the movement of the ship in turn based strategy format.

Battle Fleet 2 is a true naval combat sim set in the WW2 era. Players manually control each ship, selecting which guns to bring, use, what the angle power of their shots are, and how the ships move. Additionally carriers bring planes to perform bombing runs and interception missions into battles. Fights can take place around island chains, which can help provide cover, blocking line of sight, or forcing enemies to run aground. All of this comes together in a fast paced battle in scenarios, campaign mode, or online against other players.

In addition to improved graphics and mechanics, an entire campaign mode has been added and the combat system has been improved to track each individual shell's height and hit location, allowing you to shoot over terrain or potentially target individual components of an enemy ship.
Additional improvements include improved options for outfitting your ships, including the ability to place individual commanders, expanded cards to play, better multiplayer options, and an entirely new graphics engine. Battle Fleet 2 looks better, plays better, but is otherwise a true successor to the original best seller.
