Control Command Escape Reviews Moebius: Empire Rising
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Control Command Escape has posted a new review of Phoenix Online Publishing's Moebius: Empire Rising. Jane Jensen's return to the adventure game genre casts players in the role of Malachi Rector, an antiquities dealer who becomes embroiled in a mystery when he takes a job from a secretive government agency.

The story itself is intriguing, though if I'm honest it was a little too much pulp sci-fi for my liking, but there's no doubt that the strong writing carries the weight of the entire game. The game itself is packed full of historical tid-bits, but it's definitely the characters that make the game as interesting as it is. There's no real branching of storyline or decisions to be made like in the recent Telltale games, this is old-school point-and-click adventure all the way, completely linear and with a lot to read (although it is mercifully, fully-voiced).

B2: Sir Hammerlock Versus The Son of Crawmerax Launched
6:00 AM | IMG News | 7 comments

Gearbox Software's fifth and final Borderlands 2 Headhunter add-on, Sir Hammerlock Versus the Son of Crawmerax, is now available. Brought to Mac by Aspyr Media the DLC revolves around the players attempts to defeat Crawmerax Jr., son of the great crab worm from an add-on for the original Borderlands.

Join Sir Hammerlock along with Brick, Mordecai, and Lilith on a relaxing vacation on Wam Bam Island as you play the biggest (and last) Headhunter add-on in the series. At first, everything appears peaceful as Sir Hammerlock shows off his homemade brew and talks about the latest in Varkid tracking… that is, until tragedy strikes when a monstrously large beast kidnaps the scholarly hunter and pulls him underground. Fortunately, Crazy Earl and Mordecai are on hand to help recover the mustached colleague, provided you do a few favors for them first.

Your journey across Wam Bam Island culminates in a battle against a foe that may look familiar to some – Crawmerax Jr., the son of the great crab worm from The Secret Armory of General Knoxx add-on for the original Borderlands. Crawmerax Jr. is seeking vengeance on Lilith, Brick and Mordercai for brutally defeating his father over and over again. You must fight him off without their help so, you may want to call some friends to help you out with this one.

If you are successful in defeating Crawmerax Jr., you get the honor of wearing his head – but shrunk down to fit on your character’s neck since you aren’t an 80 foot crab worm. Each character gets a new beach themed skin as well, including Axton wearing an 80’s Aloha shirt and a certain dual gun wielding Vault Hunter prepping for a wet t-shirt contest. Oh, and make sure to bring your sun screen!

Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later
  • 2.2 GHz Dual Core Intel Mac
  • 4 GB RAM
  • 1.3 GB HD Space
  • 256 MB VRAM
  • Video:
    • ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT
    • NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS
    • Intel HD Graphics 3000
  • Require Borderlands 2 to play
  • Requires Steam and a Steam Account to play
Note:
Game Pad Support - Borderlands 2 supports both the Microsoft XBox 360 wired gamepad and the PlayStation 3 Dualshock 3 Wireless controller
Borderlands 2: Sir Hammerlock vs the Son of Crawmerax is available now for $2.99 (USD).
