Chuck's Challenge 3D Released
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Nkidu Games and Niffler have announced the launch of Chuck's Challenge 3D, a spiritual successor to Chip's Challenge. The game puts players in the role of Woop, an interdimensional purple being struggling to navigate level after level of obstacles and challenges. Requiring both puzzle solving skills and quick reaction times to complete the included 125 levels, Chuck's Challenge 3D also offers a level designer for creative players.

After more than a 20-year absence, Chuck Sommerville – the game designer behind Chip’s Challenge – has made a new PC, Mac & Linux puzzle game called Chuck’s Challenge 3D

“Over the last couple of years we’ve been creating a 3D puzzle game based on my original design and over two decades of player feedback,” Niffler’s Chuck Sommerville said. “Chuck’s Challenge 3D mixes the new with the old. We have the original Chip’s Challenge team designing levels, along with cloud gaming improvements that let anyone create and share their own content.”

Developed by Niffler Ltd. and published by Nkidu Games, Chuck’s Challenge 3D is packed with 125 levels that will test players’ logic, wits and reactions. With the included level editor, players can create and share their own puzzles, showing off their inner game designer.

Take control of an interdimensional purple being named Woop and help him navigate his way through level after level of obstacles and challenges that stand between him and the exit portal. Shift blocks, find keys, flip switches, wade through water, hot-foot it through lava and do everything it takes to make it out in one piece as you evade an army of hungry creatures who want nothing more than to turn our purple hero into a nice ‘n tasty Woop Sandwich.

Chuck’s Challenge 3D is available now for $8.99 ($9.99 regular price).

Playing History: Vikings Seeking A Kickstart
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Serious Games Interactive, developer of titles like Global Conflicts: Palestine, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund Playing History: Vikings, the third title in the Playing History series. The educational game will provide "an interactive environment that will give students the chance to experience and interact with real events taking place in the era of the Vikings." Serious Games hopes to gather at least $40,000 before the Kickstarter campaign ends on March 29.

Computer games have many purposes. They can entertain and educate; at Serious Games Interactive we develop games that can do both. ‘Vikings’, the newest chapter of the Playing History educational game series, is currently in the making. This game provides an interactive environment that will give students the chance to experience and interact with real events taking place in the era of the Vikings. Children will understand history from the inside.

By using the game medium children will have to do things and actively use their knowledge to progress the game. This provides for a stronger longer experience that has been proven in numerous studies.

The previous two titles in the 'Playing History-Series' have been rewarded with several awards. Now, by releasing 'Playing History: Vikings' we are ready to kick it up several notches by providing a fully realized 3 dimensional world to interact with, a deeper and more enganging game experience as well as more ambitious mini- games.

We believe this game can revolutionize history teaching - but we need your help to do so - using Kickstarter you can help raising the funds needed to finish this project, get the word out to schools all over the world and support the campaign on Kickstarter. You can also help us by voting on Steam Greenlight.

You are also able to read more about 'Playing History: Vikings' and sign up for ongoing updates on the campaign's development by liking the Facebook page. When donating, liking or sharing you help us getting closer to the dream of changing education for thousands of children all over the world.

About the Game

In 'Playing History: Vikings', you navigate young Erik through actual events taking place in the era of the Vikings. You will have to make the right decisions, talk to the right people and fight off enemies trying to take over your land. Throughout the gameyou are able to collect secret coins for extra loot and you are rewarded when spotting the historical anachronisms. As were accustomed at that time, you may also acquire the favor of the gods to help you and Erik in the journey of becoming a true Viking.

Playing History: Vikings is developed to fit curriculum requirements for key stages 2- 3 and the game primarily targeting students age 9-13. It is a casual learning adventure where a narrative unfolds as you make decisions, complete quests, master fighting and get the good trade deals. The game allows you to interact with the Viking Age, in an unforgettable way. As a player you cannot change history, but you can make a difference by becoming chieftain; will you take your rightful place - or fade into the abyss of history?
