6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Chainsawesome Games has announced a February 21 simultaneous release (Mac, Linux, and Windows) for Beat Blasters III. The rhythm game game lets players take control of Joey or Gina as they struggle to save the town of Accapella from the music hating butcher.

BeatBlasters III mixes rhythm in a funky fresh world full of colorful, strange, characters and places. Winner of Intel’s LevelUp Best in Sound, BeatBlasters will deliver amazing dynamic music that changes based on your timing and ability use.

Take control of Joey or Gina, two beat loving kids with some amazing powers (and totally different music) as they save the inhabitants of the town of Accapella from the music hating butcher. Armed with their three powers they will protect and aid the denizens of this strange land; for right, justice, and the freedom to listen to some killer tunes.

Each character in BeatBlasters III has unique music as well as a unique special power to aid them on their quest. Each character also shares the same three main abilities, an attack power, a shield bubble, and jet boots. Each use of these items depletes their energy, which is recharged through accurate rhythm tapping. However, while building energy the heroes are unable to attack or defend themselves, making the pacing of energy growth and decline a frantic battle of the bands. Every level and battle is a totally unique experience, keeping the game fresh as the kids attempt to reach The Butcher and end his reign of silence. The better you do on each level the more stars you'll earn towards unlocking 8 different weapons to use in your battle against musical exile.

BeatBlasters III is a fun for all ages romp through a crazy world with amazing tunes and completely original gameplay. Winner of the LevelUp Best in Sound award it will truly knock your socks off.

Sir Hammerlock Versus The Son of Crawmerax Details
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 3 comments

Gearbox Software recently revealed more information about the fifth and final Borderlands 2 Headhunter add-on. Sir Hammerlock Versus the Son of Crawmerax is planned for an April 15, 2014 release and will be coming to Mac users courtesy of Aspyr Media. The DLC revolves around the players attempts to defeat Crawmerax Jr., son of the great crab worm from an add-on for the original Borderlands.

Join Sir Hammerlock along with Brick, Mordecai, and Lilith on a relaxing vacation on Wam Bam Island as you play the biggest Headhunter add-on in the series. At first, everything appears peaceful as Sir Hammerlock shows off his homemade brew and talks about the latest in Varkid tracking… that is, until tragedy strikes when a monstrously large beast kidnaps the scholarly hunter and pulls him underground. Fortunately, Crazy Earl and Mordecai are on hand to help recover the mustached colleague, provided you do a few favors for them first.

Your journey across Wam Bam Island culminates in a battle against a foe that may look familiar to some – Crawmerax Jr., the son of the great crab worm from The Secret Armory of General Knoxx add-on for the original Borderlands. Crawmerax Jr. is seeking vengeance on Lilith, Brick and Mordercai for brutally defeating his father over and over again. You must fight him off without their help so, you may want to call some friends to help you out with this one.

If you are successful in defeating Crawmerax Jr., you get the honor of wearing his head – but shrunk down to fit on your character’s neck since you aren’t an 80 foot crab worm. Each character gets a new beach themed skin as well, including Axton wearing an 80’s Aloha shirt and a certain dual gun wielding Vault Hunter prepping for a wet t-shirt contest. Oh, and make sure to bring your sun screen!

Survive Infested Planet In March
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Rocket Bear Games recently announced March 6 as the release date for the upcoming Infested Planet. The game gives players command of 5 elite soldiers tasked with defeating a horde of 100,000 monsters. Infested planet features 21 weapons and buildings to employ, 33 alien mutations to encounter, procedurally generated maps, and a random mutation system.

Command a team of 5 elite soldiers against an alien horde of 100,000. Surrounded on all sides, you must outmaneuver and outsmart the enemy.

The enemy is closing in around you. Your soldiers are being flanked and the perimeter is slowly collapsing under a vicious alien assault. Robotic turrets will not last much longer. Just a little more and the bugs will swarm into your unprotected base. What are your orders?

You order your soldiers to fall back to a defensive chokepoint and rebuild your defenses. Sacrifice the forward squads to gain some extra time. Gather your team while equipping them with flamethrowers and laser guns. Start building a siege cannon for fire support. Then, while the aliens are busy, flank their main hives to destroy and capture them.

You have just pulled off a tactical victory - but there's no time to rest.

The aliens are constantly mutating. One moment your shotguns are ripping through the horde, the next the aliens grow hard, bullet-proof armour. You must adapt as well. Equip your team with stealth suits, miniguns, grenade launchers - your commands will decide the battle's outcome.

Features:

  • Real time tactical combat
  • A lengthy campaign where you develop new weapons
  • Procedural maps and random mutation system keep the game fresh
  • 21 Human weapons and buildings for you to wield
  • 33 Alien mutations to keep you on your toes
  • Fight thousands of enemies at once

Unsung Story: Tale Of The Guardians Funded
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Playdek has successfully concluded its Kickstarter campaign to fund Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians, with a final tally of $660,126. Described as a "turn-based, tactical war simulation RPG that plays across a great epoch, through individual story episodes," Unsung Story is a spiritual successor to games such as Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre.

What started out as an idea so many months ago has grown into this amazing collaborative project with the most amazing group people we could ever want to join our team; and by that we mean all of you!

Without your support, all of your comments and suggestions, the concerns you had and the praise you gave, the ideas you shared with us to improve both the campaign and the game itself, and your confidence in this Kickstarter campaign to help fund Unsung Story, none of this would even be possible. So for all of that, we want to thank you.

This process has been something unique and we are beyond excited that you guys were able to help us make this idea a reality!

Over the next few months we will continue to share with you our progress and development both on Kickstarter and on our website (http://unsungstory.com/) so you can continue to see how this game develops and continue to provide your ideas, suggestions, and support in order to make this the game we all have been waiting to play.

Again, we thank you. You guys truly are the best team members ever! Stay tuned, there is plenty more coming your way!

Click over to the page below for more information. Playdek is still accepting PayPal donations for the game through its website.
