IMG Reviews Avadon 2: The Corruption
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 3 comments

Inside Mac Games has posted a new review of Spiderweb Software's Avadon 2: The Corruption. The indie role-playing adventure returns players to the Black Fortress where they will have to decide whether to aid the beleaguered Avadon or assist those attempting to destroy it.

Here's an excerpt:

Besides the many battles that you will face, there is a story which unfolds as you play Avadon 2. You will need to search out information, discover what certain groups are doing, defeat certain special enemies, and so forth. There are points in the game where you make decisions to let an enemy go or fight them to the death. There are also some plot twists where you might decide to fight someone, only to later discover that you were after the wrong person! Twists like this add a realistic feeling to the game, since, as a member of the elite force, you need to act on the information you gather, which can be wrong or at least incorrectly interpreted. Avadon 2 does a good job as a real RPG game, giving you the ability to make decisions based on how you play your character. Then, based on your decisions, the world responds.

Foreign Legion: Buckets Of Blood & Multi Massacre Available
6:00 AM | IMG News | Comment on this story

Sakari Games' Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood and its sequel Foreign Legion: Multi Massacre are available now at Mac Game Store. The cartoon style first person shooters give players the chance to take on armies of enemies single handed. Multi Massacre also offers gamers the chance to go online for co-op or competitive multiplayer action.

Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood is a cartoon-style third-person shooter. You take the role of a last-standing hard-boiled Legionnaire taking on an entire rebel army.

A small campaign with various objectives, such as defending civilians, escorting a tourist bus and a mass-chicken-murder map. The game includes a ranking system that allows you to unlock new outfits, accessories and of course new weapons.

  • 18 Various Steam achievements: Try to win Chicken Slaughter (killing all the chickens) and Damage Control (sparing all the civilians) in the same game!
  • Fill your buckets with blood by causing suicide bombers to explode prematurely or shoot gory head shots!
  • A dynamically evolving soundtrack that reacts to your actions!
  • A complete arsenal of weapons, including personal air-raid support to slaughter attacking hordes at once.
  • A broad range of difficulty with action-packed fun for both casual and veteran players!
  • Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later
  • 1.8 GHz Dual Core Intel Mac
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 200 MB HD Space
  • 128 MB VRAM
  • Steam and a Steam Account required to play
Foreign Legion: Multi Massacre is the (far too) long awaited follow up to Buckets of Blood. Now you can continue the cartoon-style third person battle online and battle your friends, enemies or even frenemies across 6 maps and various modes. Reduce the never-ending army of a non-descriptive country to a bloody, meaty pulp (with extra zest!) as legionnaires of an even less described country.

So what are you waiting for, get ready to make mince meat of other players, battle endless forces, determine the biologic equation, host a nice pick nick or swim in the ocean.

Now With Zombie Mode:
After having a fun and merry undescribed time in the woods, the legionnaires need a Helicopter ride home. They discover a creepy cabin in the woods(TM) and decide to call a helicopter. Whilst summoning the helicopter, they accidentally summoned the evil forces of hell as well! Fend of hordes of zombies while keeping the generator running, powering the lights and the signal to the helicopter. It wouldn't be a FL map without our signature humour so expect some unusual zombies, crazy environments, a ton of destructables, easter eggs and buckets of GORE. Who can get the highest body count?

  • Battle waves of enemy AI with the 4 player co-op or go head to head up to 8 players in the team deathmatch or domination mode.
  • 6 map mix of classic BoB action and brand new environments.
  • Steam achievements like the assclown where all your friends can see that you spent time honking your clown nose 500 frigging times.
  • Own Foreign LegionBuckets of Blood? Sync your steam cloud save and import your progression into the game!
  • Using the steam friends system, you can easily invite your friends to a not so friendly game or use the open lobby system to insult and play with other players you will never meet.
  • DJ TRILT soundtrack featuring new and remixed songs of the original game.
  • PC and Mac can play together or fight to determine which is the better OS
  • 18+ game and we made sure to get that rating. So expect everything you might expect with a rating like that ;)
  • Mac OS X 10.6 or later
  • 2.4 GHz Dual Core Intel Mac
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 800 MB HD Space
  • 128 MB VRAM
  • Steam and a Steam Account required to play
Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood is available for $4.99 (USD), while Foreign Legion: Multi Massacre is available for $6.99 (USD).

Control Command Escape Reviews Rayman Origins
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Control Command Escape recently reviewed Rayman Origins from Feral Interactive. Designed and directed by Rayman’s original creator Michel Ancel and published by Ubisoft for PC and consoles, Rayman Origins brings back the spirited 2D platforming of Rayman’s celebrated first adventure.

It starts off innocently enough; you take control of this rat-like creature with hands and feet but no arms or legs, and run him from left to right. It’s all very familiar, but several things make it work better than your average platformer.

First is the level design. Like recent Sonic The Hedgehog titles, the levels are designed with different possible routes. There’s always a completionist route, where you try to get to those almost-inaccessible corners to grab Lums, which are unreasonably happy golden blobs that will sing on occasion, melting the most scrooge-like hearts, and act as a sort of score. Or you can take the easy route, just try to mainline it for the “exit”, or if you’re so inclined, to speedrun it (I put “exit” in quotes there, because it’s an massive eyeball you punch out of the way). The other brilliant thing about the levels is that they’re incredibly short. As much as I experienced my fair share of frustration in the game, and least it was never for long, and I could play the thing, one level at a time, in short bursts
