F1 2013 Delayed Until Next Year
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Feral Interactive has announced a postponed release for F1 2013, originally planned to launch this December. It will now be released sometime next year. Developed and published by Codemasters for consoles and PC, F1 2013 offers Mac gamers the chance to experience "all the thrills of the 2013 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP" and, for the first time in Codemastersí series, race classic cars on iconic circuits in a new game mode called F1 Classics.

Weíre sorry to announce that the release of F1 2013 on the Mac has been postponed until next year.

Releasing a top-quality product that performs at its best for as many customers as possible is our priority. While weíre sorry to disappoint anyone who has been looking forward to a December release, this decision has been taken so that when F1 2013 is released, itís as good as it can possibly be.

Thanks for your patience, and we look forward to bringing you better news shortly. In the meantime, you can find out more about the game at the F1 2013 minisite and stay up to date with the latest news from Feral by following us on Twitter, liking us on Facebook and subscribing to our newsletter.

Turn-Based Combat Coming To Torment: Tides Of Numenera
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

inXile Entertainment recently posted the results of its backer poll to decide whether the upcoming Torment: Tides of Numenera RPG will feature turn-based encounters or real-time with pause action. With 7,267 votes for turn-based, 7,052 votes for real-time with pause, and 782 votes for no preference InXile called the results "essentially a draw," and announced the decision to go with the turn-based option.

As we explained in Update 24, we were leaning toward turn-based combat because we believe itís better suited for the kind of tactical complexity we're looking for through our Crisis system. We believe itís a stronger fit for bringing narrative elements, including dialogue with NPCs, into hand-crafted combat situations. We have considered the vote, but more important than the vote are the comments (not just in our forums, but on many of the community forums and articles on this topic). Your comments have helped us greatly in understanding why people have the preferences and concerns that they do.

We have decided to go with turn-based combat. Ultimately, there are no losers here. This is all part of the process of making an RPG we are all passionate about and we think youíll like Tormentís combat even if you voted for RTwP. While we have not been looking forward to disappointing half of our backers, we were happy to find that many of the reasons people gave for disliking TB and preferring RTwP can be addressed through the details of our combat system and encounter design. Iíd like to go over some of the more common comments we saw either for RTwP or against TB and explain how we will address them.

Check out the page below for detailed reasons behind the decision.

Double Fine has unveiled a couple of new trailers and some screenshots showcasing the company's Kickstarted point-and-click adventure title, Broken Age. The trailers focus on the voice acting talent working on the game, including Elijah Wood and Wil Wheaton. The game follows the parallel lives of a boy and girl who will face unique challenges and encounter adventure.

Broken Age is a point-and-click adventure telling the stories of a young boy and girl leading parallel lives. The girl has been chosen by her village to be sacrificed to a terrible monster--but she decides to fight back. Meanwhile, a boy on a spaceship is living a solitary life under the care of a motherly computer, but he wants to break free to lead adventures and do good in the world. Adventures ensue.

Broken Age development began when we asked our community if they would help us create a classic-style adventure game without needing to rely on traditional publishers. It turns out they did.
