Telltale Developing Borderlands, Game Of Thrones Projects
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
Telltale Games has revealed two new episodic game projects scheduled to release sometime next year. Tales from the Borderlands will be developed in collaboration with Gearbox and will feature characters from the popular Borderlands RPG shooter. The second project will be based on the successful novel and television series, Game of Thrones. It will offer "an epic new chapter in the saga of Westeros."
"Gearbox shares the independent spirit that Telltale was founded on, and like Telltale, they've broken the boundaries of what to expect within a gaming genre," said Dan Connors, co-founder and CEO of Telltale Games. "Our partnership is something that we are very excited about, because it will unite the incredibly rich world of Borderlands with Telltale's focus on story-telling driven by player choice, and characters that people truly care about."Click over to the links below to check out preview trailers for both projects.
'Tales from the Borderlands' will explore and expand on the stories of existing and all-new characters from the world of Pandora, as seen in the critically-acclaimed and best-selling Borderlands® 2 from Gearbox and 2K.
"At the 2012 Spike TV VGAs, our studios and games – Borderlands 2 and The Walking Dead - were fortunate to do incredibly well that night winning more awards than any other games! So we met up later for a great first date, one thing lead to another and, well, we're having a baby," said Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox Software. "Borderlands is incredibly important to us, so it is meaningful to share that with this partnership. I have great confidence and excitement for what Telltale has in store for its all-new adventures in our universe."
The multi-year, multi-title partnership between Telltale and HBO Global Licensing is targeted to premiere digitally in 2014 with an episodic game series for home consoles, PC/Mac, and mobile devices. Specific platform details are yet to be announced.
"Since the very beginning, Telltale's goal has been to work alongside the most talented and respected forces in entertainment, bringing their worlds to the interactive space as no other game studio can," said Dan Connors, co-founder and CEO of Telltale Games. "Working with HBO to develop a new game series based on Game of Thrones is a natural fit for our studio. This partnership will create an experience that will captivate the huge, global Game of Thrones audience. It will put them in control of the epic stories of warfare, intrigue, violence and revenge that we know and love."
"We're delighted to be working with Telltale Games, a proven leader in the creation of engaging interactive content," stated Josh Goodstadt, Director of Global Licensing. "Our fans are always looking for new, exciting ways to engage with the Game of Thrones brand and this game series will put them right in the middle of the action by letting them decide where the story will lead. This brings a whole new dimension to the world of Westeros."

Celebrated platformers like Mario and Sonic, RPGs such as Elder Scrolls and Ultima, and iconic handheld games such as Pokemon. Starbound draws on numerous classic influences, while taking a thoroughly modern approach to crafting, narrative and world-building. It’s an amalgamation of the games we loved as kids, and the games we love now, fully focused on providing the player with an engrossing, fun experience.
Players love to get creative, and with Starbound, we’ve tried to offer as much creative scope as possible.
