Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition Patch Status Update
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Overhaul Games has revealed a status update for the upcoming version 1.2 patch for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition. A modified version of Bioware's fantasy role playing game set in the Forgotten Realms, BGEE features an enhanced version of the Infinity Engine, the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion pack, new adventures, new party members, and new character kits.

A few days ago I said that we would announce the open beta's release date when we were a week out. People seemed to like the transparency of that, but when you get down to it, that doesn't give anyone a realistic idea of how close we are. If you're wondering when the beta will start, all you have for information is vague references to "Soon™", and I think we can do better than that.

A lot better than that.

So here it is, the Road to v1.2:

1. Save Game Compatibility Test
2. Hardware Compatibility Test
3. Core Gameplay Test

At the end of Phase 3, anyone who bought the game through Beamdog.com will have access to the Beta (both Windows and Mac).

4. Multiplayer Stress Test

Once phase 4 is complete, the patch will be officially released.

If you're interested in being a part of this process, keep reading.

Mac Gamer HQ Interviews Gone Home Developers
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Mac Gamer HQ has posted an interview with developers from The Fullbright Company about the adventure title Gone Home. The game challenges players to investigate the Greebriar family's house and determine their fate.

Gone Home is an original take, how did you come up with that idea?

For us, the small team was integral to coming up with the idea for the game. The scale of Gone Home – just one house to explore, full of details but with no people in it – was based on the fact that we only had 4 team members (and none of us are character artists!) So really, the game idea was born out of the team as much as our creative desires.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourselves? How many are you at The Fullbright Company?

We’re four developers working on the game full-time. Three of us share a house in Portland, Oregon, and our fourth (Kate Craig) is up in Vancouver, BC. The three of us who cofounded the company all worked on the BioShock series together, then left large-scale game development to start our own small indie team. Gone Home is our first game as The Fullbright Company.

Drox Operative: Invasion Of The Ancients Races Revealed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Soldak Entertainment has revealed information about three new monsters from the upcoming Drox Operative: Invasion of the Ancients expansion for its starship action RPG. The Disruptor, the Cesto, and the Peacekeeper will all join the list of monsters players will encounter in the game.

Disruptor

Disruptor are another beam wielding Talon, but more dangerous than their kin. They deploy vicious missiles which disrupt weapon systems and delay recharge, slowing down their victim's ability to fight. They range in small swarms, hunting together for organic prey.

Special Abilities: Disruptor Missile
