Anomaly 2 Update Adds New PvP Map
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

11 bit Studios has released an update for Anomaly 2. The update adds a new PvP multiplayer map with customizable parameters for a variety of battlefield conditions. Anomaly 2 features multiplayer action, a new single player campaign, and more than a million tactical combinations for squad building.

This new update delivers Philips’ Puzzle - brand new PvP Multiplayer map and a set of functionalities that enable players to customize the parametres of each multiplayer battle. Now you can play battles on different conditions - from minimum resources to total war and annihilation strategy.

Anomaly 2 is a sequel to the critically acclaimed Anomaly Warzone Earth. Maintaining the core elements of the original, Anomaly 2 adds new features to the single-player campaign and finally puts your skills to a test in a completely unique experience: the dynamic tower defense vs. tower offense multiplayer mode!

In the years following the invasion of Earth in 2018, the planet is overrun by alien machines. Humankind is on the verge of extinction. Banded together in huge convoys, they search the frozen tundra for food and supplies. Since the war, the roles have been reversed: now our species seems to be the Anomaly on a machine-controlled planet. Your convoy, Commander, is called Yukon.

  • Anomaly 2 takes the RTS tower-offense concept from Anomaly Warzone Earth to a new level. The core elements of the original – tactical planning and the on-field Commander to support troops in combat – are spiced up by a number of important new features:
  • Morph your troops into war mechs to discover the new face of strategy: each unit has a different mech form with various abilities to help you overcome specific combat situations.
  • Engage in a multiplayer experience unique to Anomaly 2: tower defense vs. tower offense. Play as the towers and destroy the humans or lead the humans to annihilate the alien towers.
  • Fight across a post-apocalyptic world in a new single-player campaign that offers a more intense strategy experience than the acclaimed original.
  • Carve your own path to victory and create your ultimate battle squad. With over million tactical combinations to build your squad, your options in combat are nearly endless.
  • Dive into a beautifully rendered world, thanks to the team’s upgraded and improved visual engine.
  • Experience alternative endings dependent upon your approach to enemy machines in the campaign.

Mac Gamer HQ Reviews Max Payne 3, Worms Revolution
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Mac Gamer HQ recently posted reviews of Max Payne 3 and Worms Revolution Mac Deluxe Edition. The third in the Max Payne series moves Max to São Paulo, where he takes a job protecting a wealthy family and hopes to escape his troubled past. Worms Revolution MDE includes the original Worms Revolution as well as all available downloadable content for the game.

From Max Payne 3 Review:

One thing Max Payne isn’t is easy. Even on normal difficulty you can die very quickly and judicious use of painkillers and your bullet time are needed to survive. The game intentionally throws unfair numbers at you because of your bullet time advantage. Should you die multiple times at a checkpoint, you will start over with more ammo or perhaps an extra painkiller. It would be nice to be able to save whenever you wanted like in the original game, but the checkpoints are fairly well placed as to not be a problem.
From Worms Revolution Review:
Worms Revolution offers the opportunity to assemble a team to suit your style of play. There’s always the classic soldier but now you have three other options. The first option is the “Heavy”, a sluggish fat worm that is slow but hits hard. These worms will deal more damage when shooting and fling enemy worms a lot farther with a hit. Next is the “Scout”, a quick and nimble little worm that can jump higher, farther and move faster. He’s tiny and therefore does not hit very hard nor takes hits very well. Finally there’s the “Scientist”, which is pretty much a must for any formation. They do less damage then a Soldier or a Heavy but make up for it with a key ability. Every round your Scientist is alive, every living worm on your team will get +5 HP. This is crucial when outnumbered. They can also build stronger objects like girders.

Tex Murphy: Tesla Effect Trailer Released
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Big Finish Games has released the first trailer for Tesla Effect. The game is the first installment in the Tex Murphy adventure game series since it was brought back to life in a successful Kickstarter campaign. Players will take the role of the private investigator in a post-apocalyptic San Francisco, once again searching for clues, solving puzzles, and investigating crimes.

“Project Fedora” will continue the amazing adventures of Tex Murphy, the down-on-his-luck P.I. in post-apocalyptic San Francisco. This long-awaited game will be the sixth in the adventure series, which includes the award-winning games Under a Killing Moon, The Pandora Directive and Overseer.

Project Fedora will reunite creators Chris Jones and Aaron Conners and feature their trademarks of rich interactive storytelling and immersive gameplay. The new game will incorporate the very best of the classic Tex Murphy elements - sci-fi, film noir, witty dialogue, great characters, beautifully integrated FMV, and a deep, engaging story - but it will also enhance the experience of the former games with stunning new graphics, a sleek new interface, and other updates.

The detective-style gameplay takes place in a fully 3D world where you search for clues, solve puzzles, investigate crimes, and question witnesses and suspects. While the gameplay will be fun and challenging, you'll never get stuck with the free, built-in hint system.

One of Project Fedora's most exciting features is how the game and story can unfold in different ways. As you play, your actions and choices will change events, leading to new story elements and gameplay. This "narrative pathing" not only allows you to customize your experience, it will provide unique replayability, as the game will have at least three or more story paths leading to multiple endings.

Long-time Tex fans may be curious if the new storyline will pick up where Overseer (and its infamous cliffhanger) left off. The short answer is YES, but this game will be just as enjoyable for people who have never played the earlier games. While we can't give too many details yet, just be prepared for an incredible opening sequence!
